54.1 % of the cooperative’s total area is state land and 45.9 % is owned by other landowners. There are Natura protection areas in the cooperative area. These are not very big in terms of their total area, but they are an important part of the winter pasture areas.
The cooperative has no pasture area fences or similar. They have three round up fences. Also, the cooperative has Kotvala field slaughter house and there is a feeding fence next to a round up fence.
Puolanka town center is the very south of the cooperative area. In the north part, there are habitants in Näljänkä village in Suomussalmi municipality. Most of the herders of the cooperative live in the Puolanka town center and Joukokylä, Suolijärvi and Näljänkä villages.
