Oijärvi reindeer herding cooperative is part of Pudasjärvi reindeer marking district. The cooperative is located to the Ii municipality. In north, the cooperative borders with Isosydänmaa, in northeast Kuukas, in east Ikonen, in south and southeast with Kiiminki-Kollaja cooperatives and in southwest with the border of the reindeer husbandry area.

39.1 % of the cooperative’s total area is state land and 60.9 % is owned by other landowners. There is strong peat production and farming in the area. There are also three different companies who have claimed ore finding areas. In Litokaira there is a mire protection area.

There are 10 fences that have been built around fields of farms and around 120 hectares of actively farmed fields that have been fenced. There are lot of this type of fences. The cooperative does not have own fences. They use transferable fences when needed.

Kuivaniemi town centre is a significant centre. There are several villages such as Tannila, Jakkukylä and Oijärvi and farm prone areas such as Leua and Luola-aapa.
