Sallivaara reindeer herding cooperative is part of the Inari reindeer marking district. The cooperative is located in the western side of Inari municipality. The cooperative borders with Norway in northwest. In north, it borders with Muotkatunturi, in east with Hammastunturi, in south with Lappi and Kuivasalmi, and in west with Näkkälä cooperative.
98.2 % of the cooperative’s total area is state land and 1.8 % is owned by other landowners. Most of the cooperative located in the Lemmenjoki National Park and Hammantunturi wilderness area.
The main round up fence is in Hirvassalmi. Another important fence is in Lisma. The calve markings are made in Peltotunturi and Marasto.
The herders live in the Lemmenjoki, Menesjärvi, Kuttura, Lisma, Repojoki and Ivalonmatti villages. The village of Lisma is entirely in the national park.
