Syväjärvi reindeer herding cooperative is part of the Sodankylä reindeer marking district. The cooperative is located to the southern part of the Sodankylä municipality with a small part reaching Rovaniemi. The cooperative borders in north with Sattasniemi, in east with Oraniemi and Pyhä-Kallio, in south with Poikajärvi and in west with Alakylä cooperatives.

51.3 % of the cooperative’s total area is state land and 48.7 % is owned by other landowners. Kyläjärvi shooting range is located to the Piittiökaira. It is state owned and the defence forces use it. There is a peat production site in the area and a wind farm is being build to Joukhaisselkä.

The cooperative has altogether around 24 fences.

The most significant population centre is Sodankylä.
