Tradition and modern technology meet in\u00a0 reindeer herding<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Reindeer herding still follows the old traditional methods used already for decades and centuries. Like the rest of the society, herding develops constantly and acquires new technology.<\/p>\n

There are GPS\/GSM collars that give geographical information on the location of the reindeer. The death collars give information about the location of the reindeer that have been killed by large carnivores.<\/p>\n

Traffic accidents with reindeer are sought to diminish with the smart phone application.<\/p>\n

In addition, there is real time information for hunters on the reindeer herding work taking place in different parts of the reindeer husbandry area.\u00a0www.porotyot.fi<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(in Finnish).<\/p>\n
