The reindeer fence between Finland and Russia
In the Russian border area, reindeer are controlled under the act and treaty between Finland and the Soviet Union. The treaty was made in 1933, but the treaty was revoked in the Paris peace agreement article 12. After 1945 Finland built independently a fence to the border area.
The negotiations started again with the Soviet Union in 1963 and a treaty was signed in June 1965 (5/1966). This treaty is still valid and it follows the 1960 treaty on order and solving incidents in the border area of Finland and Russia.
