Be prepared for reindeer moving on the road in the reindeer husbandry area
-
- Book enough time for the journey.
- Drive at a speed that allows you to control the car in unexpected situations. Reindeer can appear on the road suddenly.
- Keep a safe distance to the car in front of you.
- Check the sides of roads. In winter, tracks indicate that there may be reindeer nearby.
- If you see one reindeer, there are probably more nearby. Reindeer are herd animals.
- Use high beams even at dusk. Reindeer’s eyes reflect from afar as a warning sign.
- Warn others on the road of reindeer by flashing long lights.
- Note that reindeer may also have reflectors.
