Reindeer escape large carnivores when they can. In the winter, it depends a lot on the snow conditions and therefore there can be fairly big changes in the amount of damages large carnivores cause to reindeer. However, it is clear that a pack of wolves and a living reindeer herd in the same area are a difficult equation in the long term.
