Taivalkoski reindeer herding cooperative is part of the Pudasjärvi reindeer marking district. The cooperative is located to the Taivalkoski, Posio, Suomussalmi and Pudasjärvi municipalities. The cooperative borders in north with Posion Livo and Akanlahti, in east with Hossa-Irni, in south with Näljänkä and in west with Pintamo and Pudasjärven Livo cooperatives.

There are plans to reopen the Mustavaara mine (vanadium-iron-titanium). It would be located to the summer pasture areas.

67.8 % of the cooperative’s total area is state land and 32.2 % is owned by other landowners.
